Adoption of e-procurement systems in procurement operations within retail industry. A case of Kilimall

College Institutional Repository Academic Archive

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of e-procurement system adoption on
procurement operations within the retail industry, focusing on a case study of
Kilimall Kenya.
The research centered on three main factors, technological preparedness,
organizational factors, and predictive analytics, and how they influence the
effectiveness of procurement operations.
A descriptive research design was employed, and data were collected using
structured questionnaires distributed to key personnel involved in procurement
and system operations.
Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics and multiple regression
analysis via Jamovi.
The findings reveal that predictive analytics had the strongest influence on
procurement effectiveness, followed by technological preparedness and
organizational factors.
The regression model showed that the three variables collectively accounted for
88.1% of the variation in procurement performance (R² = 0.881, F = 17.3, p =
0.001).
The study recommends strengthening ICT infrastructure, improving
management support, and integrating real-time data analytics tools to enhance
procurement efficiency.
The study contributes to the understanding of how e-procurement systems can
transform procurement operations in Kenya’s retail sector.
