This study investigates analysis of factors influencing the use of digital media in the
teaching and learning of English in Kajiado North constituency, Kajiado County. The objectives
of the study are; to explore the availability of digital media tools used in teaching and learning
English; to assess the level of digital literacy among teachers and students in utilizing these tools
and to examine how digital media is incorporated into English instruction in schools within the
constituency. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining qualitative and quantitative
data collection through surveys, interviews and classroom observations. The findings reveal that
while a variety of digital media tools including educational apps, online platforms, and
multimedia resources are available in some schools, their accessibility remains inconsistent due
to factors such as inadequate infrastructure and limited internet connectivity. Furthermore, the
study highlights a disparity in digital literacy levels among teachers and student with some
teachers demonstrating advanced skills in integrating technology into their lessons while others
struggle due to limited training and experience. The incorporation of digital media in English
teaching is generally found to be in its early stages with few teachers fully utilizing these tools to
enhance student engagement and learning outcomes. Factors such as institutional support,
teacher training, and access to resources play a significant role in the extent to which digital
media is used effectively. The study concludes by recommending targeted interventions,
including increased professional development for teachers, improved infrastructure, and
enhanced access to digital resources to better support the integration of digital media in English
language teaching and learning in Kajiado North constituency.
